When Kidzania opened in Singapore, it was a pretty mad craze. For those who don’t know, Kidzania is a place where kids get to try out real-life occupations like being a doctor, pilot, pizza maker, scientist, optician, fireman, etc.. Role play has never been THIS real!
I’d heard about Kidzania before they arrived on the shores of Singapore. Fellow mummies had been raving for sometime about Kidzania in Indonesia and Thailand. I wanted badly to try it, especially before my kids get too old for such places. Its such a cool concept! I think the truth is, I wanted to try it myself too!
It was perfect timing. Just when Kidzania Singapore launched it happened to be my children’s birthdays. Hence we decided to hold their birthday parties there.
A Realistic Role Playing Experience
When you first arrive at Kidzania, you have to go through “immigration” to get your Kidzania credit cards, passport etc. It is a safe zone for kids to roam, completely indoors. An 81,000 square feet city filled with shops, restaurants, buildings and vehicles. It has a fully functioning economy, where you “earn money” by doing jobs and then spend the Kidzania dollars. You’ll see real world brands inside Kidzania such as Kiss FM Radio Station, The Soup Spoon restaurant, Maybank and Nanyang Optical – all local brands in Singapore. According to my kids, one of the coolest jobs is to be a pilot where you get to fly a Boeing 737.
TIP: The queues can be long tho, so make a list of the key jobs you wish to go for beforehand.
Birthday Parties at Kidzania Singapore
We booked a joint birthday party at Kidzania with about 30 guests. We entered via a special VIP immigration zone which was cool. The cake cutting was held in their function room on the 2nd floor and they provided 2 hosts to entertain the kids. It was a seamless experience with Kidzania providing the cake and food. All in all, it was very well organised and professional.
We kept a video of the great memories at Kidzania Singapore. Enjoy!
